UNITED STATES OF AMERICA v. NOSAKHARE PETER OBAMOGIE

The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit affirmed in part and dismissed in part the appeal of a defendant who pled guilty to wire fraud conspiracy. The court enforced an appeal waiver in the plea agreement while finding the guilty plea valid and dismissing ineffective assistance claims that did not conclusively appear on the record.

Nealey v. White

The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit dismissed an appeal filed by Christopher L. Nealey because the notice of appeal was not timely filed. The court held that the failure to file within the thirty-day window was a jurisdictional bar that could not be overcome by Nealey's pending motions.
