Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how DigitalSon, LLC handles information you provide and how analytics and other operational service providers collect information when you visit or interact with Do It For The Caselaw (“DIFTCL”). It applies to the DIFTCL website, podcast listening features, newsletter subscription, and contact functions.

Information You Provide: If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address and any other information you choose to submit, which may include your first and last name, profession, and jurisdiction of interest.

If you contact us, we collect the information included in your submission, such as your name, email address, subject, message, and related correspondence. Do not submit confidential client information, privileged material, sensitive personal information, or information you are not authorized to provide.

Information Collected Automatically: Analytics services collect technical and activity information when you use DIFTCL. Other operational services supporting site delivery, security, and communications may also collect information necessary to perform those functions. This information may include an Internet Protocol address or protected value derived from it, approximate location, network information, browser or application type, device information, operating system, language, timestamps, requested pages or media, referring pages, campaign information, and interactions with site features.

Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies may be used to maintain site functions, measure audience needs and performance, understand referrals and campaigns, prevent abuse, and improve the service. The site does not currently include a tool for changing these settings.

Podcast Measurement: When you play or download podcast audio, a podcast measurement service collects information about the media request before directing it to the audio file. The information may include the request time, requested media address, Internet Protocol address or a protected value derived from it, browser or podcast-application information, referral information, request details, network information, and approximate geographic information.

These measurements estimate downloads, requests, audience patterns, and delivery performance. They do not establish exact listening time, whether a person heard the complete recording, or the identity of every listener.

Newsletter and Email: Newsletter information is used to manage subscriptions and, when the newsletter is operating, send DIFTCL reporting, service announcements, and related promotional messages. You may unsubscribe using the link included in an email. We may retain a limited suppression record so that an unsubscribed address is not added back to marketing messages unintentionally.

Contact and Abuse Prevention: Contact submissions are used to respond to messages, maintain correspondence, protect the service, and detect spam or abuse. Automated security checks may collect and process technical information about a submission and the device or network used to send it.

How Metrics Are Used: DIFTCL primarily uses the resulting metrics internally to keep the site operating at optimal performance for its consuming audience. The metrics help us understand how people access and use the service, diagnose delivery and performance issues, and make decisions about the technical architecture used to provide the best possible experience to end users.

Service Providers: Analytics services collect technical and activity information through their operation on or in connection with DIFTCL. DIFTCL does not first compile that information and then disclose a separate analytics dataset to those services. Hosting and delivery, security and abuse prevention, audience and performance measurement, advertising and campaign measurement, podcast measurement, email delivery, and communications services collect or process information as needed to provide their respective functions and under their own terms.

Other Disclosures: DIFTCL may disclose information you provide when required by law; to respond to lawful requests; to investigate or prevent harm, fraud, or misuse; to protect rights or safety; or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer involving all or part of the service.

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.

Retention: We retain information we receive for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including maintaining subscriptions and opt-out records, responding to correspondence, securing the service, meeting legal obligations, and resolving disputes. Analytics and other operational service providers maintain their own retention practices for information they collect.

Some technical measurement information is aggregated, protected, or not associated by DIFTCL with a named person. As a result, DIFTCL may not be able to connect a particular measurement record to an identified visitor.

Your Choices: You can unsubscribe from newsletter and promotional emails using the link in an email. You can configure your browser to limit cookies or similar technologies, although doing so may affect site functions. Third-party services may also provide their own privacy settings or industry opt-out mechanisms.

Browser signals and privacy preferences are not implemented consistently across all services. DIFTCL does not promise that every service provider will recognize a browser-based preference signal.

Children: DIFTCL is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security: We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information we receive. No method of transmission, processing, or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy: We may revise this Privacy Policy by posting an updated version on this page. Material changes apply prospectively unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Contact: Questions about this Privacy Policy may be submitted through the DIFTCL Contact page.
